Tragedy

The writer’s worst nightmare. I should have known better. But I didn’t. I knew I needed to incorporate a better file management system when I got a new computer about three years ago. But I didn’t. I continued to save files in the same haphazard fashion that I had saved them in the ten years of clicking on the keyboard of my old machine. Saved to a local drive had worked for me.

I put my new machine to sleep like any normal night. Closed the laptop and went to bed. The next morning Poof! Everything was gone. I panicked.

I guess it’s true and in my case, it may be a good thing…

Have you heard ”whatever you put out there on Facebook is forever”?

With the recent crash of my computer, I am cherishing the “Facebook Memories” as they refresh each day.

There are the many photos I had stored. There are the excerpts or makings of stories I have written.

Here is where I was two years ago, contemplating writing my own book for the bookshelf.

I had finally decided how to put the things I have written into some kind of order. Shuffled pieces around, placed them in proper chapter headings, cleaned up old entries and polished them to their finest. Even gave this “book” a working title.

The book covers here we’re a snapshot taken of my author page right before Florida Writers Association changed their website format. Glad I saved it.

Over the last three years I have added more book covers.

Now it’s time to start over.
